Israeli forces shoot, kill Palestinian man in Old City of al-Quds

Amid the soaring tensions in the West Bank and the dramatic rise in the Israeli military’s raids across the occupied territory, occupation troops have fatally shot a Palestinian man in the occupied Old City of al-Quds over an alleged stabbing attack against the regime’s forces.
Israeli police and medics said that a 25-year-old police officer was moderately wounded on Friday after being stabbed in the back.
The purported assailant was then shot and wounded by another policeman and a Border Police officer and subsequently declared dead on the scene.
The wounded officer was taken to the hospital, medics said.
In the aftermath, additional reinforcements of occupation forces arrived at the scene. They sealed off the Bab al-Silsila (Chain Gate) entrance to al-Aqsa Mosque, set up checkpoints in several areas, and tightly restricted the movement of Palestinians.
The stabber was identified by security officials as a resident of the Beit Hanina neighborhood of East al-Quds.
Footage from the scene showed the alleged attacker lying on the ground with blood under his body.
Since the beginning of the war on Gaza in October 2023, at least 962 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and illegal settlers, and more than 7,000 others injured, in the West Bank, according to Palestinian figures.
Last July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared that Israel’s long-standing occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal, demanding the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds.
