Hyderabad: It was a tame end to a brilliant comeback in the big league for India’s former world No.1 Kidambi Srikanth as he finished runner-up in the Malaysian Masters badminton championship on Sunday.
Srikanth, now ranked World No. 65 lost to World No. 4 Li Shi Feng of China 11-21, 19-21 in the final that lasted 36 minutes.
Incidentally, this was the 32-year-old Srikanth’s first major final since the 2021 World championship. For someone who played a superb game in the semifinal win against World No. 23 Yushi Tanaka, the champion shuttler, who once had the rare distinction of winning four Super Series titles in one calendar year, was well below par in a match which mattered most.
