Karimnagar: A powerlifter from Karimnagar, Thudi Sirichandana, won a bronze medal in 2025 Asian Sub-Junior and Junior Powerlifting Championships held at Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Friday. Participating in the 52 kg category, Sirichandana secured third place by lifting 330 kg. She was selected for the Asian powerlifting championship by excelling in 41st Federation Cup Powerlifting Championship-2024 held in New Delhi, December last year.

Expressing happiness for winning a medal in the Asian championship, Sirichandana thanked everyone who helped her to take part in the event. Despite poor facilities, she is excelling in powerlifting and winning medals in state and national-level events. A native of Marrigadda of Gangadhara mandal, Sirichandana entered into the powerlifting game when she was sixth standard against the wish of her parents.


She started practising in 2015, and during the last ten years, she participated in six national and 24 state events. Besides winning medals in state-level events, she won the gold medal in the national-level event in the year 2022. She got a bronze medal in the Junior National Classic Powerlifting Championship held in Kerala. She also won a silver medals at the SGF games held in Hyderabad in 2018. She secured medals in the national-level event held in Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Maharashtra by participating in the 52 kg category.
