Pezeshkian: Deal 'within reach' only if US stops bullying tactics

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says that reaching an agreement with the United States is possible but only if Washington abandons its bullying tactics.
Pezeshkian made the remarks in a meeting with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani on the sidelines of The Tehran Dialogue Forum on Sunday.
It comes amid heightened incendiary rhetoric from US President Donald Trump against Iran despite ongoing indirect talks between the two sides regarding Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program and the termination of US sanctions
On countless occasions, the US president has threatened to tap military force if the two sides fail to agree on a deal.
Confirming Pezeshkian’s comments, Al Thani said experience has shown that in dealing with the Islamic Republic of Iran, pressure and coercion have been ineffective, while dialogue and mutual understanding have proven successful.
The two sides also discussed ties, with the Iranian president voicing optimism that the bilateral agreements would swiftly enter the implementation phase to benefit both countries and their peoples.
Pezeshkian expressed hope that through mutual cooperation and constructive engagement with other regional countries, “we can bring peace, security, prosperity, and progress to our nations.”
The Qatari diplomat, for his part, said that his country has always supported the legitimate rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran and stood by this country; this support stems from mutual affinity and a bond that transcends politics—namely, religious brotherhood.
Pointing to the sensitive conditions prevailing in the region and the world, Al Thani added that the situation requires expanded interactions and sustained close cooperation among regional countries.
‘Greater convergence’
In another meeting on the sidelines of The Tehran Dialogue Forum, Pezeshkian held talks with the Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, where he praised the benevolent, committed, and constructive role of the Omani government in hosting indirect talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States.
Iran has held four rounds of indirect talks with the US on its nuclear program and the termination of Washington’s unilateral sanctions.
“We hope that through the sincere and dedicated efforts of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, these talks will result in a fair agreement that ensures lasting peace and stability in the region,” Pezeshkian said.
Highlighting the need for greater convergence among Islamic countries, he said, “The closer Muslim nations and brotherly countries become—and the more they expand their cooperation—the more those who wish ill upon the Islamic Ummah will despair of sowing division and discord.”
Al Busaidi, for his part, said the exemplary relations between Iran and Oman stand as a clear model of ties based on sincerity, cooperation and brotherhood, expressing hope that these relations will serve as an inspiring example for other nations as well.
The Tehran Dialogue Forum opened in the Iranian capital on Sunday with President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivering speeches at the event.
Senior officials from 53 countries, including ministers, and heads of think tanks and intellectuals, are taking part in the two-day meeting.
